TVR® OPT is set to launch the Autumn/Winter 2023 season with a distinctive revival that pays homage to the beauty of French aesthetics. Launched in June 2022, the TVR® SERIES 4 French Classic is a reinterpretation of the Classic Arnel, a best-selling American eyewear style from the 1950s, with a French twist.
Originally a celebrated style in French eyewear during the 1940s, the Arnel shape gained popularity in America, becoming an iconic design in the 1950s. The French influence on the Arnel is reimagined with vintage-like texture, incorporating raised corners on the front, a mix of straight and curved lines, wide library temples (boat paddle), and flared tips. The metal core features 17th Century Baroque-style engraving for added ornamentation.
The revival celebrates the Classic French Saddle Bridge on the Arnel front, reflecting the historical period of flamboyance and opulence. The thick body, square-shaped upper part of the eye frame, and special bridge with diamond-cut angled shape contribute to the noteworthy design. The SERIES 4 exemplifies the 'East meets West' concept, blending Japanese handcrafted artisanal qualities with European design philosophies.
Crafted entirely by hand in 8mm Japanese Zylonite material for the fronts and 6mm temples, the model prioritizes comfort and fitting. The diamond-cutting technique enhances the retro style, featuring a 90-degree edge without curved angles for precision. The diamond edge finishing is meticulously done by a master craftsman with over six decades of experience in eyewear making.
The frame is supported by seven-barrel hinges plated in 14k gold for a luxurious finish. Signature American-inspired double diamond 'W' rivets adorn the front, while temple rivets, patented based on the 1950s double diamond design, add a three-dimensional effect with pure 14k gold plating. The temple hinge design is inspired by a legendary Japanese motif found in the Imperial Palace, integrating nature-derived elements with the TVR® logo for a seamless aesthetic on the temple.
Special attention is given to Japanese hand-carving artistry on the metal core, known as the 'Tebori' technique or Japanese engraving by hand. The Tebori technique adds a unique and personal touch, ensuring each eyepiece is intricately detailed with generational elements, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
